aboutMe
Born in Germany, Claudia Lohmann grew up surrounded by creativity and artistic expression. Her father, an accomplished painter of landscapes, architecture, and still life, instilled in her an early appreciation for form, structure, and colour. In 1995, Claudia immigrated to Canada with her husband and three children, where a new chapter of exploration began.
Encouraged by her family, she began experimenting in 2004 with a variety of mediums and techniques, eventually discovering her passion for acrylic paint on wood and canvas. What began as an exploration of geometric shapes and intricate patterns evolved into a distinctive visual language marked by bold lineation, vibrant colour harmonies, and quiet symbolism. Claudia describes her evolving approach as “Imaginative Geometric Abstract.”
Over time, her work has continued to evolve beyond its geometric origins, embracing freer abstract expressions while maintaining her signature sense of balance and depth. Her paintings invite viewers to move between order and spontaneity, precision and intuition.
Claudia’s work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, including the Sooke Fine Art Show, the Sidney Fine Art Show, the Federation of Canadian Artists Gallery on Granville Island (Vancouver), the Nanaimo Fine Art Show, and the Ladysmith Waterfront Gallery. She became an Associate Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists (AFCA) in 2015 and achieved Signature Member status (SFCA) in 2024.
